Naturalwalls assisted Landry Design partner Brian Pinkett in the realization of his desire to create an earthy abode for his family.
The client was looking to use the most authentic materials and process possible for the exterior of the his home. Scott Nelson oversaw the installation of St. Astier Natural Hydraulic Lime (NHL) which has been valued for centuries in many parts of the world for its durability and beauty.
NHL is composed of crushed limestone and during the curing process it returns to its natural state which yields a crack resistant, vapor permeable building envelope that will last for decades and contains none of the harmful, synthetic compounds that are found in many PVC based stuccos.
After the final layer of plaster had been applied, a fresco process was used to create the aged appearance that is such a charming aspect of many old European buildings. Unlike a faux finish, the process ensures that the pigmentation is completely integrated into the wall surface and will allow the building to further develop in character with the passage of time.
